To my knowledge this is the first time we have featured a student twice for work completed for one course, but we were so taken by James Payne‘s final assignment for Art of Photography we thought it was worth sharing more widely. The assignment calls for the student to apply techniques and illustration and James does this admirably but where he really excels is in his use and manipulation of colour. The magazine layout works well and although there is no requirement for this, his ‘how I did it’ piece on the front cover image fits the topic. Add a healthy dose of humour (‘Generic Magazine Monthly is unlikely to be on your newsagent’s shelves any time soon!) and it is all very impressive. Take a look for yourself Assignment 5 – Narrative and Illustration

Yep, really cool! Excellent write-up as well! Something to read, much different from the normal photography material.
Nice one James.
Fascinating to read James’ thought processes in setting about the Assignment. Very creative and interesting to read. Maybe there’s a place in the amrket as well for such a magzine!
I meant market of course! Can’t see an edit button.
Congratulations James. Looks like you had a lot of fun doing this.
Well done james.
Excellent work Buzz. As Dewald says, great to read your thought processes as well.
What a great idea and so well presented.
