James Payne
Tutor Joe Fox got in touch with me to tell me about James Payne’s assignment three (Colour) for Art of Photography. Joe thought it was exceptional and I agree. James has taken the Gregory Crewdson’s Twilight series as the inspiration for part of the assignment. Given Crewdson produced Twilight with the help of Hollywood scale film crews, this was an interesting challenge for one photographer and one model.
I’m not going to say anything more about James’ series, other than to say it is exceptional. It does point to how students can test themselves with what otherwise can appear to be assignments that are exploring quite basic themes in photography. James has produced some notes on the assignment which are well worth a read and he is blogging his learning log which is available to read here
For those able to get to London, Crewdson’s more recent work Sanctuary is on show at Mason’s Yard until 8 January
Exemplary work in every aspect that illustrates the potentiality which each assignment has; particularly apposite with this assignment, which, in my experience, produces some of the least creative responses.
Thanks for sharing! Certainly a different take, go James!
A very interesting take on the subject. Nice work James.
James Rocks! His work is truly inspirational. Well done Mr xxx
Brilliant and inspiring
Very inspiring work and interesting to read the supporting notes too.
Brilliant! What imagination – makes my efforts look very pedestrian. Have you thought of submitting them to Exhibitions as I am sure they would do well. They have that ‘mystical’ quality so beloved by Judges at this time.
Very interesting but was not sure what it was meant to say
or what it was about. But that dose not take anything away from
the photography.That is excelent.
Brilliant photography.
