The literary agent

On the same day that we filmed the interview with Jacqueline Wilson, the intrepid duo of Livi Michael and myself braved the egg throwers of London (don’t ask!) once more to interview literary agent Philippa Milnes-Smith.
Philippa has many years experience in the publishing industry including time as the Managing Director of Puffin books (the children’s arm of Penguin) and is currently the Managing Director of agency Lucas, Alexander, Whitley.
In this two part video Philippa discusses the role of the literary agent and why in this era of ebooks and tv & film tie-in’s the business of getting your work published can be more complicated than ever before.
In the second part of this video (coming soon) Philippa shares what she looks for when looking for new talent.
