Two years ago, one of our External Examiners said ‘why don’t you do study visits, it would be a great way to network students’. We thought it was an idea worth trying and after two tentative visits in London and Birmingham, we launched into a full weekend at the 2010 Brighton Photo Biennial. We thought it was a success, the number of attendees was limited in numbers but not in quality (Isn’t that right Eileen and Keith?) and so we carried on.
Two of the most important things we learned were:
- Allow enough time for people to schedule visits into their diaries, and
- Accept that not everyone has Jose’s superhuman levels of stamina.
So, here we go again. We will be at the Brighton Photo Biennial for the weekend of 3 and 4 November – i.e. the final weekend. We are not ready to announce the arrangements, but it is going to be worth coming, just look at the website. We will be publishing a further post later in the summer once we have got the team together and worked out a schedule. We are committed to making this a great weekend and everyone who wants a place will be able to attend, even if it means doubling up visits. So you can start negotiating with partners, booking hotel rooms (it may be worth travelling on the Friday and staying two nights) and generally getting excited.
