Ravilious Study Visit
On Saturday 26 July, tutor Jesse Alexander will lead a study visit to look at the work of photographer Jame Ravilious held in the Museum of Barnstable and North Devon. The visit will include a talk by James’ widow Robin and an opportunity to examine the Beaford Archive. The Archive, comprising over 80,000 photographs taken over two decades by Ravilious and supplemented by more than 5,000 early photographs of the area, is probably the most intensive record of any rural area in England.
This promises to be a stimulating day with an opportunity to discuss in depth the issues raised by landscape photography and the relationship between art and documentation.
As always, places are free to OCA students. To book please email enquiries@oca-uk.com.
[As the visit is on a Saturday in July, students are strongly advised to consider attending by train. The museum is a short walk for the station]
have already signed up & I’m really looking forward to it!
Hi Averil Have you booked through the OCA rather than SW-OCA? If not, you need to!
Do you still have a space in your car please? I am booked in but a bit bothered about the drive bit. Thanks. Paddy Howe
Have replied to your OCA email …
Where will I find the reply?
I saw this exhibition when it was in Plymouth in July 2013. IT IS A MUST SEE! If you are at all able to, go and see it. I shall be going as i am really interested to here the thoughts of others. I was doing TAoP at the time so was learning an awful lot. Please feel free to visit my blog & read my observations. http://barahirbarahir.wordpress.com/category/photographers/
