How about a library visit? Possibly?
How about a library visit at the headquarters of Press Association Images? Bit more interested?
Thanks to student Helen Rosemier we have secured a tour of the archives in Nottingham for 10 people followed by Q&A (about 2 hours total). They have about 12 million photographs dating back to 1863 including images of the Titanic, royal weddings and the Olympics back in the 20s.
The tour will be in the afternoon of Wednesday 18 July and we are still exploring options for earlier in the day. Spaces for this study visit are limited due to space considerations at the Press Association. To book your place email enquiries@oca-uk.com

Prepare yourselves for this visit by reading Alan Sekula, The Body and the Archive (Sekula, A. (1992) The body and the archive, in Bolton, R. (ed.) The contest of meaning: critical histories of photography, Cambridge: MIT Press.)and Sekula, A (1986) Reading an Archive: Photography Between Labour and Capital, in Wells, L.(ed) (2003) The Photography Reader, London, Routledge.) and by watching Stephen Poliakoff’s Shooting the Past.
Thanks Peter – not on Kindle but presumably worth a hard copy!
Thanks for the reading list, looking forward to the trip.I discovered “The Reading an archive” is available as a PDF from this site :
