Away

If you get married again, will you still love me? is a poignant series of images created by OCA tutor Sharon Boothroyd based on remembered words spoken to separated fathers.
On her website Sharon says:
The highly fabricated images incorporate elements of fantasy in their precise construction, settings and use of actors. By exaggerating conventional locations into filmic versions of themselves. the artifice of the photograph is highlighted. The manufactured scenes challenge the accuracy of selective memory by questioning the truth behind the images.
The images, which operate like film stills, give access to private and intimate moments held within the tension of the public space. Rather than alluding to utopian dreams. these photographs portray common relational struggles with disappointment, anger. over—compensation and jealousy.

The work will be on display at Art Jericho in Oxford from 26 July to 19 August and Sharon will be running a study visit on Saturday 28 July. Sharon will talk about both the research processes behind the images and the challenges presented by constructing such photographic tableaux. The visit, which will start at 11am, will also consider Exercise (Djibouti) 2012 by John Gerrard which is on show at the Old Power Station.
To request a free place please email enquiries@oca-uk.com Owing to the nature of these exhibitions, there are only 12 places for this study visit. Places will be allocated by lottery on 5 July.
