We have undergone a Review for Specific Course Designation by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) and have received its final report, which is available in full here
We have received the following judgements from QAA:
The review team has confidence in OCA’s management of its responsibilities for the standards of the awards it offers on behalf of its awarding body and organisation.
The review team has confidence that OCA is fulfilling its responsibilities for managing and enhancing the quality of the intended learning opportunities it provides for students.
The review team concludes that reliance can be placed on the information that OCA produces for its intended audiences about the learning opportunities it offers.

Naturally we are pleased at this review outcome and the points of good practice identified by the QAA team. We will be addressing the relatively few points in the action plan over the coming months. I would like to express my personal gratitude to all of the students tutors and members of staff who contributed to the review and particularly to the Committee members of the OCA Student Association who surveyed students and collated their views for the student response to the review.

  • Congratulations on the outcome – whilst understanding this is just a recommendation, I look forward to the increased representation of staff and students in the committee structure that I anticipate will follow.

  • Congratulations, as someone who only started his journey with OCA last month, I have to say that I have been massively impressed with the help, advice/support & materials I have received so far – a big well done & thank you from me

  • As President of OCASA I would like to thank again the members of the committee who gave so much of their time to support and represent the student’s voice.
JDNS, and any students who feel the need to contribute, OCASA are looking for committee members for Music, Visual Comms, Fine Art and Art History and I too am ‘look forward to the increased representation of students in the committee structure that is already happening’.

  • Congratulations on this result. It is good news, and the suggested areas for improvement seem very sensible also. It was good to see that the team were aware of the outcomes of the student survey, which gives a fairly comprehensive picture. Well done to all who contributed. It would be great to see both a wider range of students and tutors take an active part in a range of committees and activities.

  • The result is a good one for the College and as a result for students. I suspect that some students will not agree with some of the outcomes, especially the Web site and forums which seem to be a source of frustration. However, even that seems to be settling down.
I was surprised at the low student numbers reported 959 as I thought it was close to 2000. Maybe, there are close to the 2000 modules registered as opposed to students. Anyway, all in all: Well done.

  • Well done. You worked hard; assiduously, to get this result. I believe you’ve attained it because you really believe in the ethos of the original OCA intentions to this day, and care about your students.

  • Now working on the final element of my Photography Course and having spent approximately four years getting there I know from a great deal of experience that the outcome of the report is well deserved. In many ways, because of the need to provide consistent reports across the whole of the education field, the report understates the quality of the OCA and its staff. I can be a fierce critic of some things that happen and some outcomes but overall my experience is positive. I also feel that it is very good value for money.
    Well done to all involved.

  • This is good news, and well-deserved; I know that a lot of hard work went into the preparation (and that a fair amount of stress was experienced, too!), so very satisfying to have the QAA’s support for what we all know to be true – OCA does a superb job, with limited resources, to deliver a unique offering to us all. Well done.

  • Well done, gang! An impressive result and well-deserved – I think you are a great team working really hard, with enormous passion.
